These artworks depict brothers, uncles, wives, and other loved ones, each of which provid a form of comfort to him. Distant Relatives reminds us that no matter where we are, there is always someone or something that will bring us home.

‘‘It is always the personality and spirit that I aim to express by exploring the individual’s features and bringing them to life. That’s the reason I paint; to feel connected to family members from afar, and to bring a sense of belonging and support to within.’ Growing up in Comoros until he was 10 years old, he is deeply influenced by his perspective on socio- economics, the strength of community, and the complexities of race, and has triggered Ibrahim to question his own French-ness in relation to the island's colonial past.

The artist uses his practice as a form of therapy, to cement family bonds and to recognize the concept of being grounded. These artworks depict brothers, uncles, wives, and other loved ones, each of which provides a form of comfort to him. Distant Relatives reminds us that no matter where we are, there is always someone or something that will bring us home.
